Welcome to the Integrated Design Consortium (iDc)
The iDc was formed in 2003 by Jerome Jarrett, Bill Dawes, John Clarkson, Mark Savill and Geoff Parks to provide a framework for collaborative research into integrated design.
Since then, the group has grown considerably to over twenty members: a combination of academic and research staff and eight PhD students. We draw together expertise in the fields of design integration, optimisation, aerodynamics, mechanics, change propagation, medical safety, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), robustness, high-performance computing, reliability, GRID technology, performance retention, Virtual Reality (VR), risk analysis, materials, aero-structures, Product Life-cycle Management (PLM), combustion, turbomachinery and through-life cost modelling.
We are currently co-located at the Universities of Cambridge and Cranfield in the UK: this facilitates not only the development of organisation structures for distributed working, but also real-time experiments in dispersed high-performance computing via GRID and the Cambridge-Cranfield High Performance Computing Facility.
We hope you enjoy your visit to the iDc. If you have any comments or queries, or are interested in joining our group, please contact Jerome Jarrett.
